Delicious Jamaican Cuisines & Pastries With Recipes

Our Jamaican cuisine are made up with different unique blends of seasoning and spices. These spices were influenced by African, Spanish, Portuguese, Indians, English, French, Chinese others.

Many of our produce are grown locally such as our meats, seafood and others and are used daily in every homes in Jamaica.

We use a lot of scotch bonnet pepper in our cuisines, this is a very hot (spicy). According to most foreigners, they say our food is spicy, local Jamaicans says it’s hot. We also use curry powder and jerk paste or jerk powder in quite a few of our dishes.

The Christmas cake or black cake is traditional for weddings and at Christmas, the Easter Bun is seasonal and used at Easter.

Jamaica Cuisine has spread all over the world because of migration. As a migrated person myself most meals that is cooked in my home is Jamaican dishes for my family and friends.

Soups

In most homes in Jamaica soup is usually cooked on Thursdays and Saturdays which is a tradition. Some of these traditions may have been broken.
